Tours in Kakadu
There are a lot of tours in Kakadu from off road 4wd Kakadu day tours and shorter tours such as cruises and flights depart from within Kakadu. There are a couple of day tour options departing Darwin such as The Arnhem Land Safari, Kakadu Skytour, Kakadu day tour by coach which includes Nourlangie Rock and Yellow Water Cruise.
Extended (overnight) Kakadu Tours depart from Darwin and can also include Katherine and Litchfield National Parks. Choose from accommodated or camping tours.
The best way to see the wildlife is on one of the Kakadu cruises of rivers and wetlands in Kakadu National Park is on a guided cruise. Yellow Waters Billabong is a land-locked billabong in Kakadu National Park where you can see amazing birdlife, crocodiles, buffalo and other wildlife. See more information on the Yellow Water Cruise.
Crocodiles are the most infamous reptile in the Northern Territory and can be seen in most rivers and billabongs in Kakadu. There is almost a one-to-one ratio of crocodiles to humans in the Top End.
The Guluyambi Cultural Cruise is a unique boat tour on Kakadu’s spectacular East Alligator River. Take in the wonderful pristine wilderness as you leisurely cruise upstream, keeping a look out for the variety of wildlife that inhabits this region, including crocodiles.
An Aboriginal guide provides guests with an insight into their Indigenous culture – local mythology, the river’s abundant food chain, traditional uses for many plants and animals as well as bush survival skills. With special permission from the local custodians, disembark on the Arnhem Land side of the river for a short walk into Arnhem Land. See more information on the Guluyambi Cultural Cruise.
The Corroboree Wetlands Cruise operates on part of the Mary River Wetlands it has the largest concentration of saltwater crocodiles in the world. The birdlife here is also fantastic with many different species present. We regularly see groups of Jabiru, Ibis, Brolga, Jacana, Egrets, Herons, Kites, Sea Eagles, Whistling ducks and Magpie Geese along with many others. Learn about the wildlife on the Billabong from your knowledgeable guide who will make your cruise both fascinating and informative. See more information on Corroboree Wetland Cruise.

Kakadu Scenic Flights are another great way to experience this vast land. To see Kakadu from the air is something that will stay with you for a very long time. You can choose to fly in a fixed wing plane or a helicopter.
There are also day tours to waterfalls and waterholes. The Jim Jim & Twin Falls Tour will take you to off road areas. In the earlier months when these areas are not accessible by road the tour will go to alternative waterholes/falls such as Maguk, Gunlom & Motor Car Falls. When the tour does go to Jim Jim and Twin Falls you do require a good level of fitness as it can be quite demanding.
If you feel you are not quite up to doing Jim Jim and Twin Falls there is another tour called “Footprints of Kakadu” and it will visit Gunlom and Ikoymarrwa Rock Pool or alternative waterholes areas when these areas are closed. You only need a moderate level of fitness to do this tour.
The Aboriginal traditional owners are happy and proud to share this special place with you. Take one of the Kakadu tours and discover the World Heritage culture and natural landscapes in Australia’s largest national park.
