6 Day Top End Explorer
Day 1: Darwin
The 6 Day Top End Explorer tour begins in Darwin, the capital of the Northern Territory and the gateway to the Kakadu, Katherine & Litchfield National Parks. Prior to your welcome meeting tomorrow morning, the day is your own to discover Darwin, you are free to arrive anytime. Depending on what time you arrive into Darwin you may like to visit the Darwin Museum & Art Gallery or take a dip in the Darwin Lagoon Pool down at the Darwin Waterfront Precinct or just relax prior to your tour tomorrow. Day 2: Litchfield National Park
Up bright and early to meet at the hotel reception area at 7.30am. Here you will meet your local guide and the other passengers joining you on tour. We head down the Stuart Highway and make our way to Litchfield National Park. Visit Litchfield’s famous termite mounds, take a dip in the maginificent Wangi Falls and enjoy a peaceful lunch next to the falls. Next we move onto Buley Rockhole where you will have antoher opportunity for a dip in the shallow rock pools. We make our way back to Darwin to freshen up and then join your tour leader for a visit to the famous Mindil Beach Sunset Markets. The markets showcase art and crafts from local vendors with plenty of choices for dinner.

Day 3: Kakadu National Park
After an early breakfast we depart Darwin and head down the Arnhem Highway towards Kakadu National Park. We stop off at Mamukala Wetlands for a photo opportunity and head out to the East Alligator River area for a picnic lunch before joining our indigenous guide on the Guluyambi Cultural Cruise. Our guide will provide a insight on the cultural significance of the landscape and the flora and fauna in the area. After the cruise we drive the short distance around the corner to Ubirr Rock Art Site and Lookout. A 1 klm loop leads you past ancient rock art and to an awesome view over the wetlands area.

Day 4: Kakadu National Park / Katherine
This morning we travel down the Kakadu Highway to Nourlangie Rock Art Site, famous for its World Heritage listed rock art creadted by the Bininj people. There are various short walks while you are here and each offering a different perspective on the wildlife, art and natural features of the area. We continue onto Gunlom Falls and enjoy a scenic picnic lunch while admiring the waterfall and bottom plunge pool. You may wish to cool off with a dip in the plunge pool before we head to Katherine.

Day 5: Nitmiluk National Park / Katherine
Today we enjoy a cruise on the Nitmiluk (Katherine) Gorge, an impressive series of sandstone gorges sculpted by the Katherine River. Marvel at the dramatic scenery as local guides fill you in on the wildlife in the region while providing historical and cultural context. In the afternoon we head out on foot and explore the Gorge from a different angle.
Today’s total driving time is approximately 1 hour. You’ll be walking around 3 hours (4km) today.
Day 6: Katherine / Darwin
Start off the day with a visit and swim at the Katherine Hot Springs. Heading back up the Stuart Highway we stop in at Edith Falls, a stunning collection of tumbling cascades where you can enjoy a swim in the deep-blue natural pools. We begin our way back to Darwin and we make another stop at the town of Pine Creek where you will learn about the rich indigenous history of the region. Arrive back in Darwin where you will bid farewell to your tour leader and newfound friends.
