Experience Overview

Depart from the helipad within Nitmiluk National Park and fly across most of the famous 13-gorge system. From the air, the winding Katherine River, ancient sandstone formations and towering escarpments reveal the impressive scale and beauty of this remarkable landscape.

Following your scenic flight over the gorge system, the helicopter lands beside a remote waterhole for a guided swim stop. Nitmiluk National Park has several safe year-round swimming locations, with clear pools, cascading water and rugged sandstone surrounds. Your pilot will choose the most suitable swim site on the day, based on conditions and the best scenic experience from both the air and the ground.

What You’ll See

Your flight takes in many of Nitmiluk’s standout landmarks, including Baruwei Lookout, Jedda’s Rock, Butterfly Gorge, Lily Ponds and the dramatic upper gorges. These remote sections are among your pilot’s favourite areas and also provide some of the best opportunities to spot wildlife from above.
